Disclaimers and what this is not

Estimates for planning, not advice.

What this site is

From Here, Anywhere gives general information about the money needed to live at a chosen level of life in different countries. It is for planning and learning. It is not financial, tax, legal, immigration or medical advice, and it does not create a professional relationship between you and us. The full Terms and Privacy pages apply.

Figures are estimates

Every figure is an estimate for planning, based on public data as of October 2026 and on the assumptions on How the numbers work. Real costs, exchange rates, interest rates, taxes and rules change and differ from person to person. Check anything important with the relevant authorities and with qualified professionals before you act on it. Information about neighborhoods, hospitals, airports and rents was checked when written and may be out of date.

How much to bring and the home page

The amounts on the map, on the country pages and in the Top 10 are estimates. The Top 10 is our own choice of places, not a ranking of every place in the world, and the amounts change with the people, years and moving date you choose. The steps explain in plain words how the plan works; they are not a recommendation to buy any stock or bond.

Choose your lifestyle and Compare

The levels are set from public household data. They describe where a monthly spending amount falls among the households of one country, not what any one household should do. The monthly amounts in the detail boxes use the US spending pattern as a guide, because no other country has its own shares yet. On Compare, photos come from the country and show the kind of place; they may come from another city or nearby, and where a place has no photo of its own the page says so.

How long might you live

The chances of reaching each age, and the four chances of living longer, are averages for groups of people. They cannot say how long you in particular will live, and they are not medical advice. The level of life you pick changes the figures only through what US records show for that part of the income range, measured while people were working, not retired. Information only. The method is on How long you might live.

Will the money last?

Market figures are as of early October 2026: US Treasury real yields, and dividend yields from fund and index publishers. All figures are in today's US dollars unless the page says another year, and before tax unless it says otherwise. The past century was a strong one for US stocks. The next one may not be. A start year that lasted in the past is not a promise for any future year. The history tested is the United States series for every country, so the events named are events in US markets and prices.

The 2026 Social Security trustees report (June 9, 2026) projects that, without a change in the law, the main retirement fund runs out in late 2032 and about 78% of benefits would be paid after that. The cut choice on the page starts at 22% from 2033, and the cut would be 17% from 2034 if Congress lets the retirement and disability funds share money. These are projections, not decisions: Congress can change the law. The tax rate on other income is an estimate. It does not replace a tax return.

Bonds and countries

Local government bonds depend on that government paying. Where we have not verified a yield, or shown that a buyer from abroad can purchase the bond, the plan uses US bonds with the 3% exchange cost. A company's own claim, such as a transfer service's registration, is shown as the company's claim.
